LIGHT

It was the middle of the night, but a light still shone in the Empress’s bedroom. When he’d first arrived on Coruscant, she’d worried that her constant need to work late into the night would disturb her Consort’s sleep. She’d offered to work in the office, but he would have none of it. She deserved to be comfortable, he claimed, and reassured her that he could sleep through anything.

She glanced over at him and smiled. He was snoring lightly, proving his point with flying colors. She couldn’t resist reaching over and brushing a strand of hair out of his face. The entire galaxy saw her as the Empress Jade, but to him, she was only Mara.

His eyes fluttered open and he took hold of her hand, kissing it. “What’s wrong?”

She smiled at the sound of his voice, rough from sleep and full of concern, even as her brow furrowed in apology. “Nothing. Go back to sleep.”

He glanced at the datapads strewn about the bed. “Do you need help?”

She shook her head. “No, go back to sleep. I don’t want to bother you.”

“No.” He scooted up in bed, so he was sitting upright, and leaned his chin on her shoulder to look at her work. “It’s my job to help.”

She smirked at him. “I thought your job was to consort.”

“Well, I can’t do that if you’re too busy working,” he said innocently.

Shaking her head, she leaned in to kiss his lips. She meant for it to be a quick kiss but he grabbed the back of her head and held her close, his tongue parting her lips and stroking gently.

He pulled away, a mischievous smile on his lips. “Are you sure I can’t help you?”

She rolled her eyes and shoved the stack of datapads off the bed. She cuddled up against him, savoring the feel of her skin against his. “Yes. You can turn off the light.”

Ooooh, this was one of the first E/C's ever!!! *hugs* I remember grinning while reading it and I'm doing so again. I love the love they find in one another, and the peace. <3 <3

LOL What is it with Luke that he's always the picture of innocense - and if he isn't he manages to become so anyway!?
