MIDWINTER FESTIVAL

Mara didn’t particularly care for Midwinter Festival, having never observed it as a girl. During her first holiday as Empress, however, she had learned that the festivities were very important to the rest of the galaxy. So in later years she decided to go all out for the celebration, as she felt that the galaxy deserved a celebration.
That was why she and her husband were dressed to the nines and standing in front of the brightly decorated festival tree in the main dining room, while a holocam operator took shots of them from various angles. They were posing for their annual Festival card, and Mara couldn’t stand it anymore. Her mouth hurt from smiling so much, and when the holocam operator paused to switch a setting, she told Luke this.
He chuckled and tightened his arm around her. “What’s the matter, Empress? Don’t you have a lot to smile about?”
“Yes, I do.” She pushed against him with her shoulder and lowered her voice. “But this is ridiculous. We’ve been standing here for almost an hour. If he hasn’t gotten a good shot by now, nobody will. We might as well have Inga taking our picture.”
“Now now,” Luke admonished her. “You need to be a good little girl or Preeni Pi won’t visit and leave you any presents.”
Mara rolled her eyes.

On the eve of the festival, Mara returned back to their chambers just in time for dinner. She’d had to work even on a semi-holiday and was very annoyed about it. She hurriedly changed from her stiff uniform to a long, casual dress.
She paused when she saw the proof of the Midwinter Festival card that had been sent out across the galaxy. Smiling softly, she ran her hand over the print. She was unable to keep herself from remembering the first time her image had been broadcast across the HoloNet, but she quickly forced that thought from her mind. Instead she focused on the decorations that adorned their bedroom. Inga had really outdone herself with decorating their quarters. She checked her appearance in the mirror, checked her comm, and then hurried off to dinner.

She entered their main dining room to find it in complete darkness. She stopped short in the doorway, confused. Dinner was always set up in the main dining room at exactly 2000, whether they actually ate there or not. Had the plans changed and she not realized?
Just as she was about to check her comm again, the lights around the tree illuminated. She blinked, eyes adjusting to the sudden change in brightness. And then her mouth dropped open as she saw what was lying underneath the festival tree.
“So tell me, Empress Jade.” Luke’s voice was a husky whisper that made all of Mara’s hair stand on end. “Have you been a very good girl, or a very bad girl?”
Her husband lay under the tree, stark naked, except for a bow stuck to his chest and mistletoe placed over his dick. He was on his side, his head propped up on one hand, the other tracing lazy patterns on the thick carpet. His eyes were clear blue and his hair hung into his face in a way Mara loved.
Mara worked her jaw, unable to speak for a moment. Then she caught her breath and walked slowly toward her husband. She stopped about a meter from him. “Judging from the early gift Preeni Pi left me, I’d say I’ve been a very good girl.”
“And what if I want you to be bad?”
Mara knelt down on the floor. “I can do that…” She trailed off, letting her lascivious thoughts pass across their bond. The mistletoe rose higher into the air as he grew more aroused, and Mara grinned. “Preeni Pi left you a present, too.”
“Oh yeah?” Luke’s voice had gone deep.
Mara nodded and lifted her arms to pull down the straps of her dress. She undid her bra and her breasts fell free, bouncing as she leaned toward him. “She did, Farmboy.”
Luke groaned and pulled her on top of him. As he worked off the rest of her clothes, Mara decided that Midwinter Festival was her new favorite holiday.
