Mara let the tension drop from her face as the door closed behind the still bickering group of politicians. She allowed herself a brief eye-roll and a stretch, lolling her neck around to relieve the burgeoning ache there. She let out a sigh, and glanced around her empty office. It wouldn’t remain so for long. Her advisor’s council would be called to order within the hour and she was sure that Br’aad was lurking somewhere nearby, ready to shove another caf-break holo-op with some air-head who wanted to breathe the same air as the Empress. Mara made a face, but quickly schooled her features back into order.
She glanced idly at the stack of mail that had been left on her desk. She had a team to look through her mail, the HoloNet missives and actual flimsies. But they always left a few for her to look through on her own. A random sampling of the Empire, free of the usual crazies who liked to ask invasive personal questions, especially about her life with the Consort.
The Consort. Again, Mara broke from the Empress mask to let a soft smile spread across her face. He was off-planet at the moment, working on finding more students for his new Academy, which he seemed hesitant to call a Temple, even if it was on the same grounds as the Jedi Temple of the Old Republic. She missed him, but had gone on with her work, and no matter what Inga muttered under her breath, she was not unbearable without Luke around.
Not at all.
Mara gave another soft sigh and picked up some of the flimsies, shuffling through to find anything of interest among them. There were a few invitations and a stack of colorful letters from a preschool. Luke would enjoy those, and she put them aside for him to view when he came home. The last package in the pile drew her attention. It was a bit thicker than the others, and hadn’t been opened by her staff in their usual prescreening. She picked it up and shook it lightly, feeling no sense of danger from it. She shied away from the Force, except with Luke and their bond, but it was still a handy tool in her arsenal when push came to shove.
Tearing the package open, she pulled out a small flimsy with blocky handwriting on it.
EMPRESS JADE OF THE MIGHTY EMPIRE:
HERE’S SOME ENTERTAINMENT FOR THOSE NIGHTS WHEN YOU’RE NOT BEING KEPT BUSY BY KID CONSORT.
REMEMBER THAT HAPPINESS IS THE BEST REVENGE (NOT KILLING YOUR BROTHER-IN-LAW). I ONLY WISH I WERE THERE TO SEE YOUR FACE…
OH, YEAH. HAPPY MIDWINTER FESTIVAL, TOO.
-HAN
Mara’s eyebrows shot into her hairline. What the kriff? She dumped out the contents of the package on her desk. She picked up piece and looked at it, her mouth dropping open, shocked recognition shooting through her belly. But she flipped the flimsy letter around and dissolved into peals of unrestrained laughter at what was written there.
“PIN THE HEAD ON PALPY”
The Empresses new favorite party game.

Oh, I love this one so much. It's one of my favorites. I remember when you first came up with the Pin the Head on Palpy game. It was right around the time I decided that Anakin was going to chop off Palpy's head. LOL. This is the best present Han could give her. He's such a good brother in law!
Oh, and I finally remembered what the random sampling of the letters reminded me of - Love Actually! When they give the Prime Minister a sample of his Christmas cards.
In conclusion, LOVE IT.
